11th Candid Photo

[Hachibe's pretty depressed about his rather dismal performance in Olivier Armstrong's fighting tournament.  He's never going to impress her if he keeps on going like that.  Deep down, he knows he's capable of some pretty amazing things when he's fighting for his precious parts, but what about the rest of the time?  Maybe some training would help him all around.  So, citizens of Mayfield, you can find Hachibe after school on Tuesday in several different places:

1) At the gym in the rec center.  He's trying to lift way too many weights at once, huffing and straining and periodically dropping the bar on himself.  He hasn't actually managed any reps so far.

2) Running around town rather sluggishly.  Somehow, he's managed to find training weights, and has them strapped to his ankles as he makes his way slowly through town.

3) Swimming in the pool.  He's not doing too badly here, but he's pushing himself a little harder than he probably ought to be.  Feel free to find him floating face-down in the middle of a lap, or flopped over on his back beside the pool breathing heavily.]

Yes you do. You won't get strong if you're laid up in a hospital bed for tearing something important.

[just sighs, hanging his head]

[He pats Hachibe on the head and puts it on a more appropriate weight setting] You have to build it up or else you'll never get there.

Small steps.

It's not fair how there's people in this town with magic and stuff, though. How am I supposed to fight that?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't. You just do what you can. What's this all about anyways? Is someone picking on you?

That fighting tournament made me realize how weak I really am. Back home, I could beat up just about anyone if they were messing with my friends, but here... There's wizards and vampires and all kinds of stuff here that I couldn't lay a finger on if I tried. I have no right to talk big about protecting anyone if I can't man up and get at least strong enough to stand my ground against those kinds of people.

I hear ya. Things are like that for me back home. I'm normal like you are, but some of the people I see back home ain't and it's a huge struggle just to go on par, let alone beat them.

Really? How do you deal with it?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I just keep going. I learn from each encounter.

Have you ever failed to protect someone important?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...yes. More then once.

[Goes quiet at that, frowning even more deeply than before.]

Each one of those times were very different circumstances, and each time I had to learn something new to keep it from happening again. You can't prepare for everythin', though you sure can try.

And you can't do anything at all if you're hurt. Back to my original point.

Start off slow. As that gets easy you add a little more, and then a little more.

Good boy.
