[It's two days after the Thanksgiving ordeal, and Hachibe has naturally spent most of his Saturday running around town trying to check up on the people he cares about after the turkey ordeal.  In the course of making his rounds, he visited the house of a newly-droned Seychelles.  He didn't even need to have a conversation with her to be able to tell what was wrong, because as soon as he saw her, she was wearing a pair of sneakers instead of her usual beach sandals.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for this poor pervert.  So many of the girls he'd found his perfect parts on have been droned recently.  And sure, the parts are still there, but they seem so hollow without the personalities behind them.  Something just feels wrong about admiring drones like that.  In any case, Hachibe can be found moping around on the front porch of his house more or less all day Saturday.  He's got headphones on and seems to be listening to something on a cassette deck while he absentmindedly shuffles through a pile of close-up pictures of ears and feet.]

"I hate this town."

Yo, Hachibe...huh? Something wrong?

[Tosses the headphones to the side and jumps up, scattering the pictures across the porch.]

"Shirley! It's you! You're still here!"

[He's clearly happy to see her, just like usual, but it's a desperate sort of happy - like she might disappear on him at any moment.]

Uh...of course I'm still here. It's not like I'm going anywhere anytime soon, you know!

[Runs down off the porch to give her a big hug, pulling back after a moment and staring into her eyes with a big smile on his face.]

"Thank god... at least I didn't lose everybody."

Did...uh...everyone else go home or something?

A lot of my other friends just got droned pretty recently, so I've been kinda depressed.

I...I see...I'm sorry to hear that.

I just found out Major Sakamoto was droned so I kind of know how you feel. It's kind of sad...I just thought she was somewhere training, and then just a few days ago I ran into her at the store and she insisted that I call her Mrs. Korbinian.

"This town is really terrible. Introducing people and then taking them away like that."

[Hachibe makes a face somewhere half between depression and anger for a moment before thinking of something.]

"Oh, hey! While I'm thinking about it... would you mind if I took some pictures of you? And maybe a few of the two of us together?"

I know...but don't let it get to you. If you think about it, the drones are lucky. They made it out of here, they can finally get back to doing what's important to them without worrying about this Cold War thing and whatever else this town throws at us.



Huh? Um...not at all. But why do you want to take pictures?

[Smiles a little sheepishly.]

"Well... it sorta got me thinking, after the first couple of people got droned. If I end up being here longer than you, I'd like to be able to remember Shirley's real smile. Your eyes won't shine even half as beautifully as a drone. So I thought taking some pictures would be a good way to keep that image alive."

Um...sure. But are you sure I'll still look the same if I...you know...get droned?
